What land did GOD promise Israel?

What land did GOD Promise Israel

Ask anyone of the Hebrew Israelites religious inclination of what land did GOD promise Israel? The one they expect to inherit. They will tell you that this is the land over there in the middle east of today. The modern state of Israel occupied by the Jewish people. They will ascertain this by Pointing to certain verses in the Bible.

(Eze_28:25)  Thus says Adonai  LORD; I will gather the house of Israel from out of the nations of which they were dispersed there. And I will be sanctified among them before the peoples, and the nations. they shall dwell upon their land which I gave my servant Jacob.

(Jer 30:3) For behold, days come, says the LORD, and I will return the resettlement of my people Israel and Judah, said the LORD. And I will return them into the land which I gave to their fathers, and they will dominate it.

Seeing they should see and not know

You can easily get that idea if you fail to handle the word of GOD carefully. It sounds straight forward, doesn’t it? The verses include code phrases. These are the land of Israel. The people dispersed among the nations; Return of the captivity; Land was given to Jacob their forefathers. This kind of careless interpretation often belies the key principles of sound Bible studies. There is an underlining principle that GOD conceals the truth of HIS words from the unbeliever.

  • (Luk_8:10) And he said, To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God; but to the rest — in parables, that seeing they should not see, and hearing they should not perceive.
  • (Mar_4:12) That in seeing they should see, and not know; and in hearing they should hear, and not perceive; lest at any time they should turn, and their sins should be forgiven them.

What land GOD promise Israel, Canaan or an eternal one?

We can easily get side-tracked here because we all know that GOD gave the land of Canaan to Israel after they came out of Egypt. We read in (Jos_21:43) And LORD gave to Israel all the land which he swore by an oath to give their fathers; and they inherited it, and dwelt in it. Therefore GOD fulfilled all HIS promises regarding the land of Canaan. Joshua lived in the 13th century BC.

Then obviously the land referenced in (Eze_28:25) and (Jer 30:3) are not about the land of Canaan because both these prophets lived in the 6th century BC. Since Joshua lived in the 13th century, then these must be references to future reality. These are prophecies yet to be fulfilled.

Did GOD promise the land of Israel to unsaved?

An equally important principle of good Bible study is that GOD distinguishes between good and bad Israel. We read the following (Psalms 73:1) O how good is God to Israel, to the ones straight in the heart. So we quickly conclude that HE is good to all Israel, but the second part of the verse defines the ones of Israel that GOD is good to. Obviously “the ones straight in heart”. Therefore GOD will not be good to the ones NOT straight in the heart.

We know that both Israel have two different eternal destinies. Because we read (Isa 10:22) And though the people of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant of them shall be saved. Also, an even more ominous warning (Mat_8:12) But the sons of the kingdom shall be cast out into the outer darkness; there, there shall be weeping and the gnashing of teeth

The bad ones have trusted GOD away. (Hosea 4:6) My people are likened as ones not having knowledge. For since you thrusted away full knowledge, even I will thrust you away so as to not officiate as priest to me. And as you forgot the laws of your God, I shall forget your children. The term “officiate as a priest” is a term signifying salvation. This verse locks it in.  (Rev_20:6) Blessed and holy is the one having part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of the Christ and shall reign with him a thousand years.

GOD promise the land to saved of Israel

So then, did GOD promise the land of Israel to all or only the saved? It is the saved ones. Because we read (Micah 2: 12)  Jacob shall be completely gathered with all his people: I will surely receive the remnant of Israel; I will cause them to return together, as sheep in trouble, as a flock in the midst of their fold: they shall rush forth from among men through the breach made before them Absolutely no doubt that this scripture is referencing the saved of Israel. GOD rescued us in the nick of time! Also, compare the word “remnant” with (Isa 10:22) And though the people of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant of them shall be saved.

Who did GOD promise to give the land of Israel?

So far, we have ascertained a few things.

  • We will establish that when GOD refers to the land in (Ezekiel_28:25) and (Jer_30:3) HE is not referring to the land of Canaan.
  • And Secondly, the land will only be inhabited by the saved of Israel.

GOD will outline the dichotomy between HIMSELF and unsaved Israel through their disobedience to HIS laws. Here also we will see to our utter amazement that unsaved Israel does plunder and oppress the saved ones.

Israel unsaved leaders hate GOD and saved Israel

Talking to the sons of Israel in the context of Israel’s reality of today (Ezekiel_34:1-10) describes a relationship of oppression, plunder, and neglect to the sons of Israel. In this context, the ones doing the oppression is Israel’s political, social and religious heads. those who generate wealth and social status for themselves, straight off the backs of saved Israel. it is obvious also that They also use their lives as an encouragement to those who want to enter their degeneracy.

But GOD offers solace to the saved

Consequently, GOD is describing a new reality in which HE takes charge and removed them out of the hands of their oppressors and plunderers (Ezekiel 34:11) For thus says the Lord the LORD; Behold, I shall seek after my sheep, and I shall visit them. (Ezk_34:15) I will graze my sheep, and I will rest them. Thus says the Lord the LORD.

(Eze 34:16) The lost I will seek, and the one wandering I will return, and the one being broken I will bind, and the faltering I will strengthen, and the strong I will guard; and I will graze them with equity. The lost in Ezekiel 34:16 corresponds exactly to the “lost” of (Mat_15:24) And responding he said, I was not sent except unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

(Ezk 34:16) “the strong(G2478)” I will GUARD(G5442) AND I WILL GRAZE THEM WITH EQUITY(G2917)
(Ezk 34:4) The ones being weak you strengthen not, and the ill having a sickness you rejuvenated not, and the broken you did not bind up, and the one wandering you did not turn back, and the lost you did not seek after, and the strong you worked in trouble.
(Eze 34:16) The lost I will seek, and the one wandering I will return, and the one being broken I will bind, and the faltering I will strengthen, and the strong I will guard; and I will graze them with equity.

The strong-a picture of unsaved Israel

The word Strong(G2478) occurs 27 times in the KJV and has a negative connotation:  (Violent, forcible, boisterous, mighty, powerful, strong (-er, man) These are most definitely a representation of unsaved Israel because GOD goes on to say in (Ezk 34:4) that you (political and religious head of Israel) “worked(G2716) them: to work fully, that is, accomplish; by implication to finish, fashion: - cause, do (deed), perform, work (out)  in trouble(G3449) (a hard and difficult labor, toil, travail, hardship, distress)

An accurate rendering of the phrase the strong you worked in trouble: The strong-willed, rebellious and sinful ones you (the political leaders, teachers, prophets, and religious head of Israel) encourage, ensnare and fashioned them into more acts of unrighteousness to cause spiritual harm to themselves.

GOD will mark them for judgment!

(Eze 34:16) the phrase the
strong I will guard; and I will graze them with equity:  guard(G5442) through the idea of
isolation; to watch, that is, be on guard (literally or figuratively); by
implication to preserve. obey, avoid: - beware, keep (self), observe, save. Equity(G2917)
(a decision (the function or the effect, for or against [“crime”]): - avenge,
condemned, condemnation, damnation, + go to law, judgment.)

An accurate rendering of the phrase would be I will observe, mark and serve to them damnation and judgment.

GOD separate the sheep from the goats

God has another name for the unsaved Israelite. HE calls them “he-goats”

(Ezk_34_17) and you, my sheep, thus says the Lord the LORD; Behold, I separate between sheep and sheep, rams and he-goats.

(Ezk_34:20) On account of this, thus says the Lord the LORD; Behold, I separate between the strong sheep and weak.

Here GOD continue to describe the evil activities of these “strong” sheep and he-goats

(Ezk_34:18) And is it not enough to you that you fed on the good pasture, and the rest of your pasture you trampled with your feet? and the place of water you drank, and the rest with your feet you disturbed?

(Ezk 34:21) With the sides and your shoulders you pushed away, and with your horns you gored, “‘and all the faltering you squeezed out, until of which time you thrust them outside! And I will deliver my sheep, and no way should they be yet for plunder; ‘and I will judge between ram to ram.

GOD speaks about the oppression of the gentiles

(Ezk 34:25) I will ordain with them a covenant of peace. I will obliterate the ferocious wild beasts from the land; they shall dwell in the wilderness, and shall sleep in the forests. GOD will ordain a covenant of peace to the saved of Israel.

(Ezk 34:25) I will ordain with them a covenant of peace. I will obliterate the ferocious wild beasts from the land; and they shall dwell in the wilderness, and shall sleep in the forests.
I will obliterate G853 (to snatch out of sight, to put out of view, to make unseen, to cause to vanish away, to destroy, consume) the ferocious G4190 ( in an ethical sense: evil wicked, bad) wild beasts G2342 (metaphorically a brutal, bestial man, savage, ferocious) from the land(G1093) ; (soil; by extension a region, or the solid part or the whole of the terrene globe (including the occupants in each application): - country, earth (-ly), ground, land, world.) and they shall dwell in the wilderness G2048,(solitary, lonely, desolate, uninhabited) and shall sleep in the forests.

The doctrine of Annihilation for the unsaved

the above phrase can be rendered as:

“I will destroy, consume (by fire) the evil, wicked, savage, bestial man from off the earth and let them dwell in an uninhabited land.”

the entire phrase above is a true picture of the true Biblical doctrine of annihilation. to be discussed further in another post

But if you are still not convinced that this is referring to the gentiles, see the following passages.

(Ezk_34_27)  the trees, the ones in the plain will yield their fruit, and the earth shall yield her strength. And they shall dwell upon their land in a hope of peace. And they shall know that I am the LORD in my breaking the chain of their yoke, and I will rescue them from out of the hand of the ones reducing them to slavery.

(Ezk_34_28  And they shall not be any longer for plunder by the nations. And the wild beasts of the land no longer in any way shall eat them. And they shall dwell in hope, and there will not be one frightening them.

(Ezk_34_29  And I will raise up to them a plant of peace, and no longer shall they be ones being destroyed by hunger upon the land; and in no way they shall bear any longer the scorning of nations. don’t the gentiles just love to scorn and abuse us now!!

Dealing with apparent contradictions

Another important thing that impacts our understanding of the scriptures is our manner of dealing with apparent contradictions in the bible. At some point, we believe we have established truth on a certain topic. If we run into an obvious contradiction later, we do not investigate the problem further. often electing to cover over or ignore the new information and plow on ahead. We think there may have been an error, or it is something that GOD failed to show us. We must have the mindset that GOD’s word is infallible. If you believe that (Eze_28:25) and (Jer_30_3) means that GOD will one day pick them up and transport them to the Jewish state in the middle, then there must be a problem with the following scriptures:

2Pe_3:7  But the present heavens and the earth, the one of his word, are treasured up for fire being kept for a day of judgment and destruction of impious men.

2Pe_3:10  But shall come the day of the Lord as a thief in the night, in which the heavens by a loud noise shall pass away, and the elements being destroyed by fire shall be loosed; and the earth and the works in it shall be incinerated.

(Mat 24:14)  And this good news of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in the entire inhabitable world, for a testimony to all the ones among the nations; and then shall come the end

The present earth will be ended by fire

This world will be ended by fire. If so, then it means that one-day GOD will transport the saved of Israel to this Jewish state. But then HE is going to burn us up with the entire world with us soon after that! That would be a great tragedy for GOD’s saved people. But when confronted with this possibility they will offer scriptures that will contradict. For example, the following:

(Isa_45:17) But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.

Other than the contemporary translations which came from the KJV (some are worse in certain cases) I have not found any genuine bibles to say, “world without end”. This is just one of the many lies perpetrated by the KJV translators. This phrase is rendered differently in the following translations:

Apostolic Bible Polyglot (Isa_45:17Israel is delivered by the LORD with an eternal deliverance; they shall not be ashamed,
nor should they feel remorse unto the eon still. The Brenton (Isa_45:17) Israel is saved in the Lord with an eternal salvation: you
shall not be confounded, and you shall not be ashamed for ever and ever. The Hebraic Root Bible (Isa_45:17) Israel is saved by the Lord with an everlasting salvation: they shall not be ashamed nor confounded for evermore. First Century Aramaic Bible
(Isa_45:17) Israel is saved in YAHWEH with everlasting salvation (Y'shua*). You shall not be ashamed nor disgraced to the forevers of eternity.

The heavens and the earth will be re-created

Th Bible never said nor infer that this world will never end. In fact, it says it will end and the heavens and earth will be recreated by the GOD who made it in the first place. For that reason, the Bible can declare

(Rev_21:5) And said the one sitting upon the throne, Behold, I make all things new. And he says to me, Write! for these words are true and trustworthy.

(Isa_45_18) For thus says the LORD, the one making the heaven, this God, the one introducing the earth and making it; he separated it, he did not make it empty, but he shaped it to dwell in; I am the LORD, and there is none beside.

(Luk_18:30) Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

What kind of land did GOD promise the saved of Israel? an eternal land!

Now let us re-visit the scriptures that purportedly reference Israel return to the land of Canaan

(Eze_28:25)  Thus says Adonai  LORD; And I will gather the house of Israel from out of the nations of which they were dispersed there. And I will be sanctified among them before the peoples, and the nations. And they shall dwell upon their land which I gave my servant Jacob.

(Jer 30:3)  For behold, days come, says the LORD, and I will return the resettlement of my people Israel and Judah, said the LORD. And I will return them into the land which I gave to their fathers, and they will dominate it.

In examining these truths we must understand two established facts: Did ever Abraham Isaac or Jacob ever saw or dwelt in the land of Canaan? Nowhere in the scriptures is that evident.
Where are Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob now dwelling? The scriptures inform us that they are alive and dwelling in the land that GOD promised them, as evidenced by the scriptures below.

(Mat_8:11) And I say to you, that many from east and west shall come, and shall be lain down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens.

(Mat_22:32) I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but of living. Therefore the land that the saved of Israel will inherit is the one occupied now by Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The land GOD promised Israel is the Kingdom of Heaven

You may often hear the phrases Kingdom of Heaven and Kingdom of GOD, land of Israel. They are recognized in the Bible as literally the same thing. Try not to get this twisted. These are talking about a real physical entity. This entity will include the (recreated) earth. But the kingdom would be much more. Because when GOD created the earth, HE also created the heavens too. Therefore, the saved of Israel inherits everything, both Heaven and earth as well as immortality! Now compare them with the verse below:

GOD appeared to Speak to Jacob our forefather, while he was in the land of Canaan, said;

(Gen 48:4)  And he said to me, Behold, I will increase you, and I will multiply you, and I will make you into a gathering of nations. And I will give to you this land(G1093), and to your seed after you, for an eternal(G166) possession(G2697)

GOD said and promised him that HE would give him and his seed “this land for an eternal possession” Notice the progression of the conversation:

”I will increase you” ….I will multiply your seed enormously. They were multiplied in the land of Canaan and thereafter
“I will make you into a gathering of nations”Israel did not become a gathering of nations when they came into the land of Canaan. They became a gathering of nations during the dispersion as they are now
“and I will give you this land”If this was the land of Canaan, this was not true for Jacob, neither his father Isaac nor his grandfather Abraham. They never came into the land with them. This is obviously referencing eternal Israel
“And to your seed after you , for an eternal possession”so here you have it in summary. Jacob and his descendants will be given the eternal land of Israel to possess to eternity

The land of Israel our forefathers is the Kingdom of GOD

So which land is GOD referring to? It is Land G1093 (the ground, the earth as a standing place, the earth as a whole) refers to the earth or the entire world in this context. Which would include the heavens? Remember “the meek shall inherit the earth“. This is what the saved of Jacob seed will inherit. The entire earth an eternal G166 (forever, everlasting) possession G2697 (occupancy)

The more things change is the more they remain the same. The Israel of Ezekiel time mirrors that of the current sons of Israel. Because today they still have the same false doctrines.

(Micah 3:11) Her leaders judge with bribes, and her priests answer with a wage, and her prophets are divining with silver; but upon the LORD they rest upon, saying, is not the LORD among us? In no way shall bad things come upon us.

They still believe GOD is among them and they expect to see good from HIM.

But this is how GOD responded to them, which is still applicable to their descendants

(Eze_33:24)  O son of man, the ones inhabiting the places being made desolate upon the land of Israel, speaking they say, Abraham was one, and he held down the land; and we, we are many; the land was given to us for a possession.

(Eze 33:25) On account of this say to them! Thus says the Lord the LORD; Since you chew upon food with blood, and lift your eyes unto your abominations, and you pour out blood — then shall you inherit the land?

(Eze 33:26) And you stood with your broadswords, you did loathsome things, and each tainted the wife of his neighbor — then shall you inherit the land?

The unsaved will not enter the land GOD gave Israel

The obverse is also true for those of the Sons of Israel that are unsaved—

(Ezekiel 13:8-9) On account of this, say! Thus says Adonai the LORD; Because your words are false, and your divinations vain, on account of this, behold, I am against you, says Adonai the LORD. And I will stretch out my hand against the prophets, of the ones seeing false visions, and the ones declaring vain things in instruction of my people. They will not be, nor shall they be written among the writing of the house of Israel, and into the land of Israel they shall not enter; and they shall know that I am Adonai the LORD.

Ezekiel was prophesying to Israel in the physical representation of the kingdom of heaven (Zion) here on earth, Israel. And yet GOD is saying that these false prophets will not be among the writing of the house of Israel.

(the book of life (Rev_3:5), (Rev_13:8), (Rev_20:15) nor enter the land of Israel

These men of Israel is referring to the land of Israel in Canaan, where they think is given to them and their ancestors forever! Because the word of GOD overtook them. Their sins have nullified that covenant GOD made with their forefathers. They no longer had an inheritance in the land, just as their contemporary of today.

King Solomon of Israel & his accomplishments

Throughout his 40-year reign, King Solomon of Israel made great accomplishments for his kingdom. He is probably the most renowned man during his lifetime. The secular sources, revere him for building the temple in Jerusalem, one of the greatest archeological wonders of ancient times. King Solomon ruled over an extensive empire. At its apex, Solomon kingdom included many conquered kingdom states like Edom, Moab, Ammon, and Syria. There were allied states such as Sidonia and Tyre. additionally, there were Vassal kingdoms like the Philistines, Hamath, as well as Hittite states all the way up to the Euphrates river. GOD gave him great wisdom and understanding, wealth, possessions, and glory.

Under his reign, the kingdom of Israel made great strides. At the peak of Solomon’s reign, the nation of Israel was at its most prosperous. This was the very best of times for Israel since we came up out of Egypt. Solomon gave them the longest period of peace and prosperity they ever have known through the entire history because we read: (1Ki_4:25)  And Judah and Israel dwelt being yielded each in his grapevine and under his fig-tree, from Dan and unto Beer-Sheba, all the days of Solomon

At the peak of Solomon’s reign, the nation of Israel was at its most prosperous. But despite all his accomplishments, Solomon led the nation into idolatry. Even though GOD gave him great wisdom and knowledge, even enabling him to write some books of the Bible, Solomon died an unsaved man

This article purports to show that King Solomon of Israel, despite his historic accomplishments, that GOD endowed on him, he died an unsaved and unrighteous and wicked Israelite

king, Solomon of Israel biography

Solomon was the tenth son of King David and the second son of his mother Bathsheba.  He was born shortly after David starts his reign (1011 BC-1005 BC). At some point, it is apparent that he was co-regent with his father David. Most scholars believe Solomon ruled over Israel from when he was 20 years old.  Evidence from the Bible shows that he was a young man when he began to reign, but no concrete evidence of the date of birth. He reigned by himself between 971 BCE when his father died and 931 BCE the year of his death. So, how old was King Solomon of Israel when he died? We can surmise that from (1Ki_11_42). Since he reigned for 40 years, Therefore, he would have died when he was 60 years old of natural causes

(1Ki_11:42)  And the days which Solomon reigned in Jerusalem was forty years over all Israel.

The accomplishments of King Solomon of Israel are legendary

GOD gave him great wisdom and understanding and wealth, and possessions, and glory. According to the LORD, this would far exceed any kings before him and any that came after him. According to the Talmud, Solomon is one of the 48 prophets. The Quran, considers him a major prophet, and Muslims generally refer to him by the Arabic language as Suleman, son of David. He is often associated with wisdom; “as wise as Solomon”.

(2 CH_1: 11-12)  God said to Solomon, Because this happened in your heart, and you did not ask wealth of things, nor glory, nor the life of the ones detesting you, and you did not ask for many days; but you asked for yourself wisdom and understanding, so as to judge my people, over whom I gave you to reign over it –the wisdom and the understanding I give to you; and wealth, and possessions, and glory I shall give to you, as did not happen likened unto you among the kings before you, and it will not be thus after you

The following verses are a testimony to the fact that GOD delivered as promised:

(1Ki_10:23)  Solomon was magnified above all the kings of the earth in riches and intellect.
(1Ki_4:34) And all the peoples came to him to hear the wisdom of Solomon. And he took gifts from all the kings of the earth, as many as heard his wisdom.
(1Ki_4:30)  Solomon multiplied exceedingly over the intellect of all the ancient men, and above all the intelligent ones of Egypt
(1Ki_10:24)  And all the kings of the earth sought the face of Solomon to hear of his intellect, which the LORD put in his heart.

Despite king Solomon of Israel accomplishments, he fell from grace

We know that despite king Solomon of Israel great accomplishments; all the favors and promises of GOD concerning him, he had precipitous decent. we saw that his kingdom didn’t remain one whole after he died. And centuries later Israel was turned out of the land GOD gave to them. Because Solomon’s latter life failed to meet the conditions that GOD set out for him.

(1Ki_11:11)  And the LORD said to Solomon, Because these things happened with you, and you did not guard my commandments, and my orders, which I gave charge to you, in tearing I will tear up your kingdom from out of your hand, and I will give it to your servant.

(1Ki 11:33) because he abandoned me, and offered unto Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, and to Chemosh the idol of Moab, and to Milcom the loathsome thing of the sons of Ammon. And he did not go in my ways to do the upright thing before me, and my orders, and my ordinances, as David his father did.

I am the LORD your God There shall not be other gods besides me

To get a perspective of how he stumbled into this predicament, we must go back into history. After the tribes came out of Egypt, GOD prepares them for nationhood, by commissioning laws for them. The most important one is enumerated in (Exo 20:2-5)  I am the LORD your God, the one leading you from the land of Egypt, from out of the house of slavery. There shall not be to you other gods besides me. You shall not make to yourself an idol, nor any representation, as much as in the heaven upward, nor as much as in the earth below, nor as much as in the waters underneath the earth. You shall not do obeisance to them, nor shall you serve to them. For I am LORD your God, a jealous God, rendering sins of fathers upon children unto third and fourth generation to the detesting me

Their success as a nation was dependent on obeying these commandments perfectly. because GOD further declares, “For I am the LORD, the one leading you from out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. And you shall be holy, for I the LORD am holy” (Lev_11:45) These laws would set them apart from other nations around them and elsewhere on the earth.

God commands Israel not to mix nor marry gentiles

Most Bible commentators will readily admit to the prohibition of Israel not marrying gentiles, but it is clear from the following verses that GOD also prohibits Israel from mixing with them also. Not only is Israel not to have a marriage with gentiles, but they must also not mix socially with them.

(Jos 23:13)  knowledge know that in no way shall LORD your God proceed to utterly destroy these nations from your face. And they will be to you for snares, and for obstacles, and for nails in your heels, and for arrows in your eyes, until whenever you should destroy from this good land the LORD your God which gave to you.

(Deu 7:3)  nor contract a marriage with them. You shall not give your daughter his son, and his daughter you shall not take your son.

(Deu 7:4)  For your son will leave from me, and shall serve other gods, and the LORD shall be provoked to anger in rage against you, and shall utterly destroy you quickly.

(Neh 13:1)  In that day read in scroll of Moses into ears of the people. And it was found written in it how that Ammonite and Moabite should not enter into assembly of God unto eon.

Neh 13:3  And it came to pass as they heard the law, that they separated all intermixed in Israel.

But history shows that king Solomon of Israel worshipped Other gods and idols

King Solomon of Israel made tremendous accomplishments for Israel, but he also is the principal in leading Israel away from GOD. The records of the Bible show that King Solomon of Israel abrogated GOD’s commandments that he commanded Israel because it shows that he worshipped false gods of the nations around him.

(1Ki_11:5)  And Solomon went after Ashtoreth god of the Sidonians and after Milcom the abomination of Ammon.
(1Ki_11:6)  And Solomon did evil before the LORD, and did not go after the LORD as David his father.
(1Ki_11:7)  Then Solomon built a high place to Chemosh, the idol of Moab, in the mountain before Jerusalem, and to Molech the idol of the sons of Ammon.

Solomon even offered sacrifices and burnt incense on the high places

We know that GOD prohibits Israel for burning sacrifices on high places, because we read“And Solomon loved the LORD, to go in the orders of David his father; only he sacrificed and burned incense in the high places (1Ki_3:3).” Some of these places of worship were inherited from the fleeing people of the land, Israel observed since they came into the land of Canaan. This was an abominable practice that GOD had warned them about: “Speak to the sons of Israel! you shall say to them, You pass over the Jordan into the land of Canaan! And you shall destroy all the ones dwelling in the land before your face; you shall lift away their sacred heights; and all their molten idols — you shall destroy them; and all their sacred monuments you shall lift away” (Num 33:51-52)

He even offered sacrifices outside of Jerusalem

But Not only was the probation against sacrificing like the displaced Canaanites, but Israel should not offer sacrifices anywhere but in the temple of Jerusalem.  It will clearly state that sacrifices were only to be made in Jerusalem temple.

GOD instructed Israel, saying: “Take heed to yourself that you should no offer of your whole burnt-offerings in any place of which ever you should behold,” (Deu_12:13) “but only in the place which the LORD your God should choose it, in one of your cities — there you shall offer your whole burnt-offerings, and there you shall do all as many things as I give charge to you today.” (Deu_12:14) This following verse is and others, confirmation that Jerusalem is the place GOD is referencing.

(2Ki_23:27)  the LORD said, And indeed Judah I shall remove from my face, as I removed Israel, and I will thrust away this city which I chose — Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, My name will be there.

Consequently, King Solomon of Israel was in violation of another of GOD’s commandments. Because we read “And he rose up and went into Gibeon to sacrifice there, for it was highest and great. Solomon offered upon the altar in Gibeon a thousand whole burnt-offerings.” (1Ki_3:4)

Solomon marries gentile women and formed political and social alignments with gentile nations

GOD commands Israel that they should not socialize, “nor contract a marriage with them. You shall not give your daughter his son, and his daughter you shall not take your son. For your son will leave from me, and shall serve other gods, and LORD shall be provoked to anger in rage against you, and shall utterly destroy you quickly” (Deu_7:3-4) but contrarywise Solomon married these foreign wives. (1Ki_11:2)  “of the nations which the LORD forbade to the sons of Israel, saying, You shall not enter to them, and they shall not enter to you; that they should not turn aside  your hearts after their idols — for of them Solomon cleaved to love;”

Evidently Solomon was fond of having many wives

(1Kings 11:1) And king Solomon was fond of women, and he took alien wives, and the daughter of Pharaoh, and Moabitish, and Ammonitish, and Edomites, and Sidonians, and Hittites.

People usually like to theorize that Israel can marry other gentiles, but the prohibition is only with regard to the nations mentioned in the verse above. But one should remember that these nations are all neighboring Israel. So, GOD had no need to mention English, Spanish, Indian, Chinese, Greeks and Hispanics. I am sure Solomon would have married these if he would have gotten his hands on them. If that is not the case, then how will you deal with the verse? “For you are a holy people to the LORD your God. And the LORD your God preferred you to be to him a prized people from all the nations, as many as are upon the face of the earth” (Deu_7:6)

The fact is Israel is set apart by GOD as HIS people. The word for nations is expressed as the word(G1484) In practically 99% of the times this word depending on the context it could mean Gentiles, Heathen, nations or foreign non-Israelites. In the aforementioned verse, the context is clearly gentile. That is a non-Israelite. Israel should not intermarry with anyone, not an Israelite.

(1Ki_11:4)  And it came to pass in a time of old age of Solomon,  his wives turned aside his heart after other gods. And his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father. A sad testimony that despite king Solomon of Israel great accomplishments, his behavior was never conformed to the will of GOD

Solomon even tried to Kill Jeroboam

Because of the many sins of King Solomon of Israel, GOD made the decision to divide the kingdom. Jeroboam was the man that GOD chose to give the ten northern tribes to. The two southern tribes would remain under the control of the Davidic dynasty. However, God planned to do it after Solomon was gone. Solomon tried to kill him when he learned of GOD’s plan. (1Ki_11:40) “Solomon sought to put Jeroboam to death. And he rose up, and ran away unto Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt. And he was in Egypt until Solomon died”.

What a contrast to his father David! Remember when Saul was hunting David to kill him when he learned that David would one day be king? Saul was a wicked man who was striking out at GOD for rejecting him. David had several opportunities to retaliate and kill king Saul, but he chose not to do because he feared GOD. Now Solomon is trying to kill a man who GOD chose to replace him as head of ten of the tribes. He is striking out against GOD for rejecting him. Solomon, instead of correcting himself chose to lash out at GOD.

(Proverbs 3:11)  O son, do not have little regard for the instruction of the LORD, nor loosen up under his reproving!

King Solomon of Israel had great accomplishments but died an unsaved man

King Solomon of Israel made remarkable accomplishments for his kingdom, but he had dark underside. there is much evidence in the Bible to show that he was an unsaved man who had an Intractably disobedient heart to the laws of GOD. For example:

  • He turned away from GOD and worshiped false gods when he should know that “For all the gods of the nations are idols; and the LORD made the heavens” (1Ch_16:26)
  • he also worshipped idols
  • additionally, he Served sacrifices outside of the Jerusalem temple
  • married non-Israelite women
  • Married multiple wives
  • he even attempted murder and
  • lashed out at GOD when he was reproved

We have concrete evidence from the Bible that GOD did not save Solomon. HE did not give Solomon eternal life

Despite King Solomon of Israel accomplishments, he did not achieve eternal life

King Solomon of Israel despite his personal achievements had an impenetrable heart to GOD’s command and died without being saved from his sins. We will deduce this from the Word Of GOD, by comparing some relevant scriptures.

(2Sa 12:13)  And David said to Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said to David, And the LORD cast aside your sin, and you shall not die.

The backdrop to this story goes like this: King David had succumbed to lust and invited a very attractive woman into his home. He subsequently had an adulterous affair and she became pregnant. To cover up this sin, David plotted the murder of her husband. He thought he was ok, and these things were covered up and nobody would be the wiser. David was wrong Because GOD knows everything. GOD sent an emissary, Nathan the prophet to confront him and Nathan pointed the finger at David.

Compare (Gen_2:17) but from the tree of the knowing good and evil, you shall not eat from it; but in whatever day you should eat from it, to death you shall die.

The comparison between Adam and King David of Israel

We know that Adam, even though he did not die immediately the day he sinned, he died when he was 930 years old. GOD told David that he shall not die, but because King David died in 971BC.

The one reading this will be rightly confused. But the author of this statement (GOD) is not making an error. HIS words are absolutely infallible.

The key to this apparent contradiction can be found elsewhere by comparing other scriptures.  is in the phrase “you shall not die” and “to death you shall die”.

(Eze_18:21)  “And the lawless one, if he should turn from all his lawless deeds which he did, and should keep all my commandments, and should do equity and righteousness and mercy; to life he shall live, and he shall not die”

The above scripture not only expands on the terms but introduce two opposing phrases, “to life he shall live” and “he shall not die

(Joh_5:24)  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
(Joh_10:28)  And I give to them eternal life, and in no way shall they perish into the eon; and not shall any seize them by force from out of my hand.

Adam died to death, but king David lived to life

The Author, GOD declared to David in (2Sa 12:13) “you shall not die”. GOD has “cast away”, or remitted David’s sins. Just like the subjects in (Joh_5:24) David’s physical body may be deposited in a grave somewhere, when he died but he was ”passed from death unto life” This is synonymous with the term “eternal life” in (Joh_10:28)

The situation with Adam in (Gen_2:17) is quite the opposite. When he died, his physical body would also be put in a grave somewhere. Because of his disobedience, he should not “live to life” His death was to death(completion) he ”would die to death/not have eternal life

Now let us compare these same phrases to the case of Solomon and see how they match the case of Adam above. This will prove that King Solomon of Israel, with all his accomplishments his sins were never remitted by GOD. This was the opposite of his father David.

Old testament life into the eons and eternal life are synonymous

The phrase, eternal life, life eternal is found in the new testament between 30-45 times in the new testament depending on the translation. However, the Old Testament it only appears once (Dan_12:2) And many of the ones sleeping in an embankment of earth shall awaken, these unto eternal life, and these others unto scorning, and for eternal shame. Here the context shows this one instance has the same meaning that they have in the new testament. In the old testament, the terms used are synonymous with other phrases such as:  long life; length of days; length of existence; duration of days; life into the eon; prolong days)

(Pro_3:1-2) O son, forget not my laws, and give heed to my sayings in your heart!. For the length of existence, and years of life and peace shall be added to you.
(Pro_16:17) The paths of life turn aside from evils; and the ways of righteousness are length of existence. The one receiving instruction will be among good things; and the one keeping reproofs shall be made wise. The one who guards his own ways gives heed to his own soul; and the one loving his life shall spare his mouth.

The comparison between King Solomon and his father David

Solomon asked for wisdom to lead Israel. GOD not only gave him wisdom but adds abundant riches and glory. But GOD added prolong days (1Ki 3:14)  And if you should have gone in my way, to guard my commandments, and my orders, as David your father went, then I will prolong your days. But this was conditional. Solomon would have to obey GOD commandments as his father David did. We clearly saw that he did not. He turned away from GOD and worshiped false gods Served sacrifices outside of the Jerusalem temple, married non-Israelite women, Married 1000 women, tried even murder and lashed out at GOD when he was reproved. Solomon never met the conditions that GOD offered. He did not obey GOD’s commandments as his father David.

he died in his sins and never receive “prolong life”. Never had eternal life. To death, he died.

(Eze 18:24)  But in the turning the just from his righteousness, and he should commit iniquity, according to all the iniquities which the lawless one did; if he should do thus, he shall not live. In all the things of his righteousness, which he did, in no way shall they be remembered; in his transgression in which he fell, and in his sins in which he sinned, in them he shall die.

Solomon’s sins provide the legal impetus for invoking the curses of Deuteronomy twenty-eight

King Solomon of Israel made great accomplishments for his people but he also was responsible for leading the people into apostasy. Solomon was charged with leading GOD’s people in righteousness and justice, but his sins provided the legal impetus for GOD to invoke the curses of Deuteronomy 28. The discourse between GOD and Solomon in 1Ki_9:6-9 is evidence of this:

(1Ki 9:6-9)  But if by turning, you should turn, you and your children, from me and my orders which I put before you, so as to not keep, and you should go and should serve other gods, and should do obeisance to them; then I will remove Israel from the land which I gave to them; this house which I sanctified to my name I shall throw away from my face. Israel will be for extinction and for a discussion among all the peoples.this lofty house, every one traveling by it shall be amazed, and shall whistle. they shall say, For what reason did the LORD do thus to this land, and to this house.

And they shall say, Because they abandoned the LORD their God, the one leading their fathers from out of the house of slavery of Egypt, and they took hold of alien gods, and did obeisance to them, and served to them. On account of this the LORD brought upon them all this evil.

Why it’s called Solomon’s captivity

In the above conversation with Solomon, GOD is referencing the curses of Deuteronomy. GOD put these curses on Israel, later after they came out of the land of Egypt.  GOD is talking to Solomon after the completion of the temple building some 500 years later. GOD told him that if , he Solomon served other gods, then “Israel will be for extinction and for a discussion among all the peoples” and “I will remove Israel from the land which I gave to them”

(Deu 28:37)And you will be there for an enigma, and a parable, and a tale, in all the nations into which ever the LORD should take you there.
Deu 28:64 And the LORD your God will disperse you into all the nations, from the tip of the earth, unto the other tip of the earth. And you shall slave there to other gods of wood and stone, which you have no knowledge of, nor your fathers.

The consequences of Solomon’s rebellion against GOD is referred in a couple of places in the Bible as Solomon’s captivity or captivity of Solomon: (Amo_1:6)Thus says the LORD, For the three impious deeds of Gaza, and for the four, I will not turn away from them. Because of their capturing the captivity of Solomon, to close them up in Edom.

King Solomon of Israel a disobedient prophet despite his accomplishments

There are a lot of misconceptions about Solomon’s relationship with GOD. The achievements of king Solomon of Israel and the fact that GOD helped him, has given him mythical status.  Saying that Solomon is not an unrighteous man, is tantamount to blasphemy. According to the Talmud, Solomon is one of the 48 prophets. In the Quran, he is considered a major prophet. But let the facts of GOD’s word speak.

Didn’t the Bible say that GOD loved Solomon?

This idea clearly emanates from (2Sa 12:24-25) David comforted his wife Bath-sheba. he entered to her, and went to bed with her, and she conceived, and gave birth to a son, and called his name Solomon. And the LORD loved him.he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and called his name Jedidiah, by the word of the LORD.

Let us examine this word “love” carefully

It is the Greek G25(agapaō) in the dictionary. Thayer Definition: 1) of persons 1a) to welcome, to entertain, to be fond of, to love dearly. When you examine the context, you will see that the best example of use could only be “to welcome”. Here is the context-- king David, Solomon’s father had committed adultery Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba. She became pregnant. David subsequently had Uriah murdered. GOD struck the male child that Bathsheba bore, and he died seven days later, as foretold by Nathan the prophet. The next child of David and Bathsheba was named Solomon. GOD killed the first child, but God accepted Solomon. He didn’t kill him as David might have expected. There are even more examples to draw from.

Didn’t the Bible say Solomon Loved GOD?

It seems likely this belief comes from a reference in (1Ki_3:3),  “And Solomon loved the LORD, to go in the orders of David his father; only he sacrificed and burned incense in the high places”

But It is the same Greek number G25 (agapaō). Solomon had respect for GOD or Solomon entertain GOD, or Solomon welcomed GOD with respect to going in the orders of his father David. What was David’s order? It was building this great magnificent temple. Remember it is written: (Joh_14:15) If ye love me, keep my commandments. Same word G25(agapaō)  used here. But the context would demand either of the phrases: “to be fond of” or “to love dearly” to be used. Solomon didn’t love GOD or he would have kept HIS commandments!

So How could Solomon be not righteous? He wrote books of the Bible-he is a prophet!

Solomon was a prophet, To answer that question, we have to define a prophet in terms of GOD’s relationship with them and the people of Israel. A prophet is someone that gets a message from the GOD of Israel to the people of Israel. (Num_12:6)  And he said to them, Hear my words. If there should be a prophet among you to the LORD, I will be made known to him in a vision, and in sleep I will speak to him or (Deu_18:18)  I shall raise up a prophet to them from amidst their brethren, as you, and I shall put my word in his mouth; and he shall speak to them in so far as I give charge to him.

Therefore, the words are of GOD are given to the prophet. It is not the prophet. He only penned them or speak them to Israel. We have reasonable certainty that he is the author of most of the Proverbs, The Songs of Solomon and Ecclesiastics.

Remember what we mentioned above that the prophet takes the word of GOD? It is clear from the verses below that, GOD is still the author of these above, even though the human author penned them.

Solomon is like the disobedient prophet in (1Ki 13:26)

Solomon is very similar to the disobedient prophet in (1Ki 13:26) because in the same manner he disobeyed GOD’s order and suffered the fatal consequences. “And the one returning him from out of the way heard, and said, This is the man of God who rebelled against the word of the LORD; and the LORD gave him to the lion, and it broke him, and it killed him, according to the word of the LORD which he spoke to him

There are a couple of other prophets that Solomon warrants comparison with, for example, Balaam. Balaam considered a bribe to curse Israel. A narrative in Numbers chapters 22, 23, and 24. Relates how GOD can put HIS word in the mouth of a non-Israelite prophet. In the narrative GOD even speak to this evil soothsayer through a donkey.  After several years of wandering, Israel was encamped west of Moab. The king of Moab seeing what Israel did to the Amorites, rightfully feared them. He sent for the Soothsayer Balaam to curse them hoping that may make a way to overcome them. After the messengers came to Balaam, GOD confronted him:

Balaam the evil soothsayer made some wonderful prophecies about Israel and the MESSIAH

King Solomon of Israel made great achievements, even recording some of GOD’s words, but so did Balaam the wicked soothsayer.

(Num 23:5) And God put a word into the mouth of Balaam, and he said, Turning towards Balak thus you shall speak.
(Num 23:11) And Balak said to Balaam, What have you done to me? For a curse for my enemies I have called you, and behold, you have blessed a blessing.
(Num 23:12) And Balaam said to Balak, Is it not as many things as God should put in my mouth this I will guard to speak?
(Num 24:2) And Balaam lifting up his eyes, looks down on Israel encamped by tribes. And spirit of God became upon him.
(Num 24:4) Says the one hearing oracles of God, who saw a vision of God in sleep; uncovering his eyes.

(Num 24:7) A man came forth from out of his seed, and he shall dominate many nations. And Gog his kingdom shall be raised up high, and his kingdom shall be increased.
(Num 24:9) Lying down he rested as a lion, and as a cub who shall raise him? The ones blessing you, they are blessed; and the ones cursing you, they are cursed.
(Num 24:17) I will show to him, but not now. I bless, and he does not approach. A star will arise from out of Jacob, and a man shall rise up from out of Israel, and he shall devastate the heads of Moab, and he shall despoil all of the sons of Sheth.
(Num 24:18) And Edom shall be an inheritance, and Esau his enemy shall be an inheritance. And Israel acted in strength.
(Num 24:19) And one shall be awakened from out of Jacob, and shall destroy the one escaping from the city.
(Num 24:20) And having seen Amalek, and taking up his parable, he said, The head of nations is Amalek, and his seed shall perish.

These are wonderful words of prophecies, concerning Israel, came out of the mouth of a wicked soothsayer. But they are the word of GOD.

In this sense, Solomon is no different than Balaam as a prophet. GOD recorded these words of Balaam in the same place that HE recorded the book of the Proverbs, The Songs of Solomon and Ecclesiastics.

Both prophecy the word that GOD tells them. Both are still just unsaved people.

We are absolutely sure that Balaam was an unsaved man because we read in (Jos_13:22)”Balaam also the son of Beor, the soothsayer, did the children of Israel slay with the sword among them that were slain by them. Of Balaam GOD Additionally we read “Leaving behind the straight way, they wandered, following after the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved  the wage of unrighteousness;” (2Pe_2:15)

we therefore know for certain that despite king Solomon of Israel great accomplishments, he died an unsaved and man
